About Me
Hello, and welcome to my website.
I am currently working toward my PhD in geography at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. My research focuses on identifying ecosystem disturbances, exploring how those disturbances effect ecosystem processes, and on alternative methods for geographic education with an emphasis on blind and visually impaired education.
In my personal life, I enjoy the outdoors, especially the beauty and excitement of whitewater rivers. I have been an avid whitewater boater my entire life, and have explored the rivers of North America on several adventures with friends and family, such as recent trips down the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon (picture at left). My love of whitewater also helped me meet my wife, Noel, on the river when we where both working as raft guides on the Youghiogheny River. To supplement my activities while I can not make it outside, I have taken up practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and have made lots of friends practicing and coaching Jiu JItsu in my spare time
