Whitewater Boating
I have been involved in whitewater nearly as long as I have been walking thanks to my incredible family. I learned how to roll a kayak and was running Class III whitewater by the age of 12. I continue to explore the world through its rivers to this day. The love of whitewater has brought my wife and I together, and we spent our honeymoon floating down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon with my uncle (picture to the left) who was the original inspiration in many of my life's adventures. I continue to explore new rivers around my new home of Idaho and enjoy each day I get to spend on the water with family and friends.
I also enjoy racing kayaks in whitewater rivers, and do quite well when I do compete. Most recently I entered the "Lose it on the Lochsa" races in Idaho and actually took my first lifetime overall gold medal finish in a race in the Fish Creek sprint race. I have also been a competitive downriver racer with near top of class finishes on the Lochsa River in Idaho (picture at top of page) and Cheat River in West Virginia.

Jiu Jitsu
I took an interest in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu during my time as an undergraduate at Millersville University finding lots of opportunities to try my new sport while participating in the university's martial arts club. After leaving Millersville, I began training with and received my blue and purple belts from Ground Zero Fighting System in Morgantown, WV (www.teamgzfs.com) in 2010 and 2012 respectively. My love of the sport and lack of local gyms in Moscow, ID inspired me to begin my own Jiu Jitsu club which persisted until early 2016 when I joined V7 Martial Arts (v7martialarts.com) when the gym opened in Moscow. I received my Brown belt under Nicolae Cury in early 2016. I have since returned to Morgantown, WV and received my black belt from Phil Davis and Don Cunanan at Ground Zero in August of 2017.
I am currently focusing on sharing my knowledge of Jiu Jitsu with the people around me. I teach classes at Ground Zero as often as possible, and find an incredible amount of joy watching my students and friends learn new skills and apply them in their personal competitions.
